A warm welcome to the Espoo International Lutheran Church!

The six Evangelical Lutheran parishes of Espoo offer worship, church ceremonies, family clubs, Sunday school, baptism and confirmation classes for youth and adults, summer camps, and various other activities in English and other languages. We provide pastoral care and counselling for individuals and families. In hospitals, our chaplains serve patients, relatives, and staff. Our university chaplains support students and staff on campuses. Family counsellors help couples and families with relational challenges.

There are four international Lutheran worship communities in Espoo, located in Matinkylä, Suvela,  Tapiola, and Karakallio. We offer worship services, fellowship and community, and various activities for all ages. Our services and activities use both English and Finnish. We welcome people from all cultural, religious, and language backgrounds. Our aim is to build bridges between immigrants and native Finns. Learn more about us and our activities through the links below.

Grants are awarded for different styles of spiritual (christian) music, that can be ranging from old church music to the latest forms of contemporary music. We are seeking and loking forward to receiving applications from various music styles and musical projects. Through the grants we support music projects that enrich and develop the spiritual music life in Espoo. The principles and criteria for support and the documents needed for application are available from the link below.

Grants are predominantly in the range of 1,000 to 4,000 €.  The total amount to be granted is 25,000 euros.

The deadline for applications is 28 February 2025.

“We hope to receive applications especially from music creators under the age of 30,” says Eero Jokela, the Head of Ecclesiastic Work. Additionally, applications are valued based on innovation, networking collaboration, and multicultural and educational content. The grant for spiritual music primarily supports applicants based in Espoo or those predominantly consisting of members who are from Espoo.

A Long Tradition of Supporting the Musical Arts

Baroque or rock, church music or world music, concerts or peer support – the grant has supported a wide variety of projects and musical styles in the past. These have included church concerts, music in care home settings, community choir activities, musical theatre, and interdisciplinary projects. Music grants have been distributed over the years and have a long history in the Espoo Parishes.

Music Promotes Well-being

Music is often created in close interaction with others.

“My experience is that choir singing or other forms of creating music as part of a community strengthens an individual’s well-being in many ways,” says Eero Jokela.
