Welcome to the SyysMatti Fair!

Espoo’s largest and most popular event for people of all ages, SyysMatti Fair 2024 will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 21.-22.

What is the SyysMatti Fair?

SyysMatti Fair is an old-time market that gathers nearly 10 000 people every year. This year is the 17th time the event will be held in and around the Espoo Cathedral.

The market stalls offering handicrafts and products from the harvest season are open from 10 am to 4 pm on both days. There are also several places with free activities and things to look at for children or those who are young at heart. Ponies can be petted and draft dogs can pull children in carts. A blacksmith produces various objects, and next to Pitäjäntupa you can test the stability of your hand with archery. You will also find the ever popular hobby horse workshop and alpacas!

In the Cathedral you can relax and listen to music from the Middle Ages, hear presentations about the church building and its paintings, and become familiar with the pipe organ. Food is available from the market stands and the organizer’s coffee carts. There is an icon exhibition, angel tours for children, confirmation songs, fishing on the river bank and carving bark boats.

The event is alcohol-free and smoke-free. Feedback from the SyysMatti Fair has been overwhelmingly positive.

The market is truly a place for people of all ages and the whole family, where you don’t necessarily have to spend money, but where you can do all of your Christmas shopping.

Come and experience all of this again this fall!

The SyysMatti Fair is organized by the Espoo Cathedral Parish. All events at the market are free of charge. There is a small fee for supplies at some of the workshops.

What is the SyysMatti Fair’s income used for?

The proceeds of the Market are donated to charity and mission work through church organizations.
