Music Play School Teachers at Espoo Parishes

Enrol to Music Play Schools and learn Finnish with your child!

Music play school ‘Muskari’ is a group for 0-6-year-old children and their parents. Children who are over three years take part without their parents. There are also groups for siblings and their parents. In the music play school, we enjoy music in versatile ways: singing, playing, telling nursery rhymes, listening and moving to music. There is an enrollment for the groups, new groups start in August. There’s a fee for attending music play school. The groups are led by qualified early childhood music educators. The groups are kept Finnish, but everyone is welcome to join. This is also a great way to learn Finnish!

There are also choirs for children in most parishes.

Sign up now to join in the groups in the August

Signing up and registering your child to join the groups in August was in May. But you can contact the Group leaders to ask for spare places. For more information about the groups and their contact details, see  below.

Music Playgroup (Muskari): School Year and Fees

The music playgroups (muskaris) start in the autumn season during week 33 (in Espoo Cathedral Parish during week 34) and in the spring season in January. There are 30 weeks of activities in one school year. 2–4 of the sessions may be something special, like a concert, celebration, or church service for families.

The fee is €75 per semester. There is a 50% discount for all siblings.

If a baby in a sibling group is under 3 months old when the season starts, you don’t need to pay for them. You can register your child as soon as they have a Finnish personal identity number. If you are signing up for "Pregnancy Music Group" (Masumuskari), use your own personal identity number.

The first two sessions are free trial sessions. If you decide not to continue after the trial, you don’t need to pay. If you stop attending after the trial sessions, the fee will not be refunded.

If you know in advance that you will stop or return to work, please contact the teacher about payment (preferably by email) by early September (for autumn) or early February (for spring).

Registration is valid for the whole school year. If you do not want to continue in the spring season, please inform your teacher.

If your family receives discretionary financial support from Kela, you don’t need to pay, as long as you submit the fee exemption form on time. Print the form, fill it out, and give it to your music playgroup teacher.

The invoice will be sent through the parish’s online service. You will receive a message by email and text message when the invoice is ready. You can find the service at the top of this page under "Sähköinen asiointi" (Electronic services). You created a username for this service when you registered.

Parish members and returning students have priority for a place in the playgroup. You can also join during the season if there is space in the group.
Registration is open all year on the parish’s website.

What is a “Muskarimessu”?

Sometimes the season includes a “muskarimessu” – a church service suitable for children and adults. There can also be other music events for families, like “Toddler Church” or “Music Church”.
