Prayer

God invites us to connect with him through prayer. Prayer is essential for our spiritual life, expressing our dependence on God for daily needs, forgiveness, strength, and wisdom to face life’s challenges.

We can pray alone, anywhere and anytime. We can use our own words to express our deepest thoughts and needs to God. We can use existing prayers, e.g. from a prayer book, that express how we feel at that moment. But we can also be still before God: No words are needed because he knows our thoughts and needs better than we do.

We can also pray together as a community: in a family setting, in a church prayer group, or whenever a natural opportunity arises. In the worship service, we pray as a Christian family to our Father in heaven. We also pray the Lord’s Prayer together as Jesus taught us to. We can also ask the priest to pray for our needs and concerns in the service. Prayer requests are anonymous and can be sent online or left in a special prayer request box in the church.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory
are yours now and forever.  Amen.
