Welcome to the Church in Espoo family counselling website!

The Family Counselling Centre of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Espoo offers professional conversation help when you face issues in your marriage, partnership, family, or personal life. All our counsellors are professionally trained.

You may come to family counselling alone, with your partner, or as a family, irrespective of ethnic background, family type, or sexual orientation. If you live in Espoo or Kauniainen, our service is free. You need not even be a Church member. We offer counselling in Finnish, Swedish, and English. It is also possible to use an interpreter.

How to become a client

We are here to answer your call on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 9 and 11 a.m. During your first call, we will conduct a brief interview to review your situation and the kind of help you are seeking. Our staff will go through the interviews in our weekly meeting. Because our resources are limited, we may be unable to take you on as a new client. If we cannot help you right now, we will try to refer you to other services.

Would single-session therapy be helpful? 

In single-session therapy, you can analyse your life situation with a family counsellor and reflect on how to improve your mental well-being. You can participate alone or with your partner or family – whatever feels most appropriate. 

You can book a 1.5-hour online therapy session with a family counsellor. There are limited time slots available, but we constantly add new time slots. 

Single-session therapy is conducted online via MS Teams. Once you have booked your appointment, our family counsellor will email you a link to the Teams meeting.
